This 9th class chemistry chapter 6 test is an original ExamPaperDesk practice paper for Chapter 6, Equilibria. Every question is printed in both English and Urdu, so English medium and Urdu medium students can use the same paper. It carries 36 marks: 10 multiple-choice questions with a bubble sheet, 10 short questions of which you attempt any eight, and 2 detailed questions. An answer key for the MCQs is given at the end.
Before you attempt it, revise from the Class 9 Chemistry Chapter 6 textbook PDF. The Class 9 Chemistry section of ExamPaperDesk is organised into notes, test papers, online papers, guess papers, past papers and textbook PDFs, and you can already browse our Class 9 Chemistry notes and textbook PDFs.
How to Use This Chapter 6 Test
Print the paper or open it on your phone, close your book and attempt all three sections in one sitting, as you would in an exam. Fill in the bubble sheet for Section A, then check your MCQs against the answer key on the last page. For the short and detailed questions, compare your answers with the chapter in your textbook and note any topic you need to revise again.

What the Chapter 6 Test Covers: Equilibria
The paper is set across the whole of Chapter 6 rather than one exercise, so it is a fair check of whether the chapter is finished. Questions are drawn from:
- Reversible and irreversible reactions.
- Dynamic equilibrium and the conditions required for it.
- The law of mass action and the equilibrium constant expression.
- What the magnitude of the equilibrium constant tells you about a reaction.
- Le Chatelier principle and the effect of concentration, pressure and temperature.
- Industrial applications such as the Haber process.
Facts You Need Before Attempting It
Most of the marks in Equilibria hang on a small number of statements being exactly right:
- At dynamic equilibrium the forward and reverse reactions continue at equal rates, so concentrations stay constant but the reactions do not stop.
- A large equilibrium constant means the products are favoured at equilibrium.
- Le Chatelier principle: a system at equilibrium shifts so as to oppose any change imposed on it.
Where Marks Go Missing in This Chapter
- Saying the reactions stop at equilibrium.
- Writing the equilibrium constant expression upside down.
- Applying a pressure change to a reaction with equal moles of gas on both sides and expecting a shift.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does dynamic equilibrium mean?
That the forward and backward reactions are still happening, but at exactly the same rate, so the concentrations of reactants and products no longer change. Equilibrium is not the same as the reaction stopping.
Is the answer key included?
An answer key for the multiple-choice section is printed at the end of the paper. The written sections should be marked against your textbook and the solved chapter notes.
