This 9th class maths chapter 7 online test covers Chapter 7 of the Class 9 Mathematics course, Coordinate Geometry. It has 25 multiple-choice questions, shown one at a time, and it marks itself the moment you finish. There is no timer and no sign-up. When you press finish you get your score, and every question is shown again with your answer, the correct option and a short explanation of why that option is right. An Urdu medium version of the same test is given further down this page.
What Chapter 7 Covers
The 25 questions are spread across the whole unit rather than one exercise, so the test is a fair check of whether you are ready for a class test or the annual paper:
- Coordinates and quadrants — abscissa and ordinate, which quadrant a point lies in, and the form of points on an axis.
- Distance formula — the distance between two points, and using it to find the radius of a circle from its centre.
- Midpoint formula — finding the midpoint of a segment such as the one joining (2, 3) and (8, 7).
- Slope and inclination — the slope of a non-vertical line, the range of the inclination, and the slope of a line parallel to the y-axis.
- Parallel and perpendicular lines — equal gradients, and the product of gradients equal to −1.
- Forms of the equation of a line — slope-intercept, point-slope, two-point, intercept and normal form.
- Converting between forms, such as rewriting 2x + 3y − 6 = 0 in slope-intercept form, and the slope of ax + by + c = 0.
Revise These Before You Start
Most marks in this unit are lost on the same few points. Read through these once before attempting the test:
- Distance = √[(x₂ − x₁)2 + (y₂ − y₁)2], and the midpoint is simply the average of the coordinates.
- Parallel lines have equal slopes; perpendicular lines satisfy m₁ × m₂ = −1.
- The slope of ax + by + c = 0 is −a/b, which saves rearranging the whole equation.
- A line parallel to the y-axis has inclination 90° and an undefined slope, not a slope of zero.
- The equation of the x-axis is y = 0, and points on the y-axis have the form (0, y).
- In the normal form x cos α + y sin α = p, the value p is the perpendicular distance from the origin to the line.
How the Test Works
- 25 questions, one at a time, with Next and Previous buttons.
- No timer, so you can work a calculation out on paper before answering.
- Automatic marking the moment you finish.
- Answer review with the correct option and an explanation for every question.
- Retake as many times as you like, and your score is not stored anywhere.
Start the Chapter 7 Online Test
Sketch the points roughly before answering — a quick sketch catches sign errors that the formula alone will not. Keep a pen and rough paper beside you: the numerical questions are quick, but they are much easier to get right written down than in your head. Aim for 20 out of 25 or better before you move on to the next unit.
Chapter 7 Online Test — Urdu Medium
Urdu medium students can attempt the same Chapter 7 test with every question, option and explanation written in Urdu. It behaves exactly like the English test above: 25 questions one at a time, no timer, and a full answer review at the end.
Mistakes Students Make in This Unit
When you look through your answer review, check whether any of your wrong answers came from these:
- Subtracting coordinates in the wrong order and then forgetting that squaring removes the sign anyway.
- Saying a vertical line has slope zero when it is actually undefined.
- Using m₁ = m₂ for perpendicular lines instead of m₁m₂ = −1.
- Mixing up the abscissa and the ordinate.
- Reading the slope of ax + by + c = 0 as a/b and dropping the minus sign.
What to Do After the Test
A score on its own teaches you very little. Go through the answer review properly and write down the number of every question you got wrong, along with the topic it came from. If two or three of them come from the same section of the unit, that section is what you revise next — not the whole chapter again. Then retake the test a day or two later rather than immediately, because answering correctly from memory is not the same as understanding it. Once you are consistently scoring above 20, move on and come back to this test in your final week of revision.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the distance between two points?
Use √[(x₂ − x₁)2 + (y₂ − y₁)2]. For P(1, 2) and Q(4, 6) that is √(32 + 42) = √25 = 5.
How can I tell whether two lines are perpendicular?
Multiply their slopes. If the product is exactly −1 the lines are perpendicular. If the slopes are equal instead, the lines are parallel.
What is the slope of the line ax + by + c = 0?
It is −a/b. You can check it by rearranging into y = mx + c, but quoting the result directly is faster and less error-prone in a multiple-choice test.
Is this test free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on retakes and nothing is locked. Your score is not saved or shared.
