This 9th class maths chapter 12 online test covers Chapter 12 of the Class 9 Mathematics course, Information Handling. It has 25 multiple-choice questions, shown one at a time, and it marks itself the moment you finish. There is no timer and no sign-up. When you press finish you get your score, and every question is shown again with your answer, the correct option and a short explanation of why that option is right. An Urdu medium version of the same test is given further down this page.
What Chapter 12 Covers
The 25 questions are spread across the whole unit rather than one exercise, so the test is a fair check of whether you are ready for a class test or the annual paper:
- Types of data — discrete and continuous, grouped and ungrouped, and which kind comes from measuring.
- Frequency distributions — frequency, class limits, class boundaries, class marks and class interval size.
- Building a distribution — finding the range, choosing the number of classes and working out the class size.
- Mean — for ungrouped and grouped data, the weighted mean, and the deviation method using D = X − A.
- Median — for ungrouped data and the grouped formula, including what each symbol in it stands for.
- Mode — for ungrouped data, the modal class, and the grouped formula.
- Graphs — histograms and frequency polygons, and what they are drawn from.
Revise These Before You Start
Most marks in this unit are lost on the same few points. Read through these once before attempting the test:
- Range = greatest value − smallest value, and class size is roughly the range divided by the number of classes.
- The class mark, also called the midpoint, is the average of the upper and lower class limits.
- Class boundaries remove the gap between classes, so limits 5–9 and 10–14 give a boundary at 9.5.
- The modal class is the class with the highest frequency, not the one in the middle.
- Sum = mean × n, so 45 numbers with a mean of 80 add up to 3600.
- With the deviation method, mean = A + ΣD/n, where A is the assumed mean.
How the Test Works
- 25 questions, one at a time, with Next and Previous buttons.
- No timer, so you can work a calculation out on paper before answering.
- Automatic marking the moment you finish.
- Answer review with the correct option and an explanation for every question.
- Retake as many times as you like, and your score is not stored anywhere.
Start the Chapter 12 Online Test
Write the data in order before you touch any formula — most mistakes in this chapter are made before the calculating even begins. Keep a pen and rough paper beside you: the numerical questions are quick, but they are much easier to get right written down than in your head. Aim for 20 out of 25 or better before you move on to the next unit.
Chapter 12 Online Test — Urdu Medium
Urdu medium students can attempt the same Chapter 12 test with every question, option and explanation written in Urdu. It behaves exactly like the English test above: 25 questions one at a time, no timer, and a full answer review at the end.
Mistakes Students Make in This Unit
When you look through your answer review, check whether any of your wrong answers came from these:
- Forgetting to arrange the data in order before finding the median.
- Using class limits instead of class boundaries when drawing a histogram.
- Saying a data set has no mode when it genuinely has none, but calling every repeated value the mode when there are several.
- Confusing the frequency of a class with its class mark.
- Dividing by the number of classes instead of the total frequency when finding the mean.
What to Do After the Test
A score on its own teaches you very little. Go through the answer review properly and write down the number of every question you got wrong, along with the topic it came from. If two or three of them come from the same section of the unit, that section is what you revise next — not the whole chapter again. Then retake the test a day or two later rather than immediately, because answering correctly from memory is not the same as understanding it. Once you are consistently scoring above 20, move on and come back to this test in your final week of revision.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between class limits and class boundaries?
Class limits are the values as written, such as 5–9 and 10–14. Class boundaries close the gap between consecutive classes, so the boundary between those two is 9.5. Histograms are drawn using boundaries.
How do I find the median of an ungrouped data set?
Arrange the values in order first, then take the middle one. With an even number of values, take the average of the two middle values.
What is the modal class?
The class with the highest frequency in a grouped frequency distribution. It is the group in which the mode lies, and it is the starting point for the grouped mode formula.
Is this test free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on retakes and nothing is locked. Your score is not saved or shared.
