Class 9 Islamiat: What the Course Involves and How to Prepare

Class 9 Islamiat covers Quranic verses with their translation and explanation, selected Ahadith, the life and character of the Holy Prophet, the fundamental beliefs of Islam, acts of worship, and Islamic character and social conduct. The paper rewards accurate recall of texts alongside the ability to explain what they mean and how they apply.

Where students usually lose marks is in the translation and explanation questions. Translating a verse approximately is not enough; the expected wording is specific, and it has to be learned as it is given in the textbook. The same applies to Ahadith, where both the text and its lesson are usually required.

For the longer questions on Seerat and on Islamic teachings, answers are marked point by point. Write in clear numbered or separated points rather than one unbroken paragraph, give a reference where the textbook gives one, and finish with a sentence that answers the question directly. Memorising the headings of an answer first, then filling them in, produces a more complete answer than trying to recall a whole passage at once.

Revise this subject little and often rather than in long sessions. Texts that are revised for ten minutes daily stay accurate far longer than those crammed the week before the exam.
