Class 9 Physics: Syllabus, Paper Pattern and Free Resources

Class 9 Physics in the Punjab board course is built around nine chapters, starting with physical quantities and measurement and ending with the nature of science itself. Between those sit the chapters that carry most of the marks and most of the difficulty: kinematics, dynamics, turning effects of force, work and energy, the mechanical properties of matter, thermal properties and magnetism. Almost every chapter mixes conceptual questions with numericals, which is why students who only read the book tend to lose marks they thought were safe.

The written paper carries 60 marks over 2 hours 10 minutes. Twelve of those marks come from compulsory multiple-choice questions, thirty from short answers where you choose five parts out of eight in each of three questions, and eighteen from long questions where you attempt two of the three offered. Knowing that split matters, because it tells you that the short-answer sections alone are worth half the paper.

Everything on this page is free and needs no sign-up. A sensible order is to read the chapter, work through its exercise short questions and constructive questions, then take the chapter online test, which marks itself and explains every answer. Once a few chapters feel solid, sit a full guess paper under timed conditions to build the stamina a 130-minute exam actually demands.
