9th Class Chemistry Chapter 2 Online Test: 25 MCQs with Answers

This 9th class chemistry chapter 2 online test covers Chapter 2 of the Class 9 Chemistry course, Atomic Structure. It has 25 multiple-choice questions, shown one at a time, and it marks itself the moment you finish. There is no timer and no sign-up. When you press finish you get your score, and every question is shown again with your answer, the correct option and a short explanation of why that option is right. An Urdu medium version of the same test is further down this page.

What the 25 Questions Test

The questions are spread across the whole of Chapter 2 rather than one section, and most of them ask you to apply something rather than simply recall it. Expect to be doing the following:

  • Matching each subatomic particle to its charge, mass and location.
  • Working out protons, neutrons and electrons from an atomic number and mass number.
  • Identifying isotopes of the same element from given values.
  • Reading an electronic configuration and spotting an impossible one.
  • Which model is credited to Rutherford and which to Bohr.
  • Why a neutral atom has equal protons and electrons.

Quick Recall Before You Start

These are the points Atomic Structure questions turn on most often. Read them once, then begin:

  • Protons and neutrons sit in the nucleus; electrons occupy shells around it.
  • Mass number minus atomic number gives the neutrons.
  • Isotopes share the atomic number and differ in mass number.
  • Shell capacity follows two, eight, eight for the first twenty elements.

Traps Hidden in the Wrong Options

In a well-built multiple-choice test the wrong answers are not random; each one is placed there because students genuinely believe it. In this chapter look out for:

  • An option giving the neutron a positive or negative charge.
  • Numbers that confuse mass number with relative atomic mass.
  • Electron configurations that overfill a shell.

How the Test Works

  • 25 questions, one at a time, with Next and Previous buttons.
  • No timer, so you can work a calculation out on paper first.
  • Automatic marking as soon as you finish.
  • Answer review showing the correct option and an explanation for every question.
  • Retake as often as you like; your score is not stored anywhere.

Start the Chapter 2 Online Test

Chapter 2 rewards arithmetic care: work the proton, neutron and electron counts out on paper rather than in your head. Read each question to the end before looking at the options, because one word such as “only”, “always” or “molten” can decide which answer is correct. Aim for 20 out of 25 or better before moving on.

What to Do With Your Score

The score matters less than the review that follows it. Note the topic behind each wrong answer rather than the question number, and if several come from one part of the chapter, revise that part alone. For Chapter 2 the part worth securing first is the structure of the atom, because Chapters 3 and 8 both build directly on it. Retake the test a day or two later rather than straight away, then move to the written paper, where you have to produce the answer instead of recognising it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the number of neutrons in an atom?

Subtract the atomic number from the mass number. The atomic number gives the protons, the mass number gives protons plus neutrons, so the difference is the neutron count.

Do isotopes behave differently in chemical reactions?

Essentially no. Chemical behaviour is set by the electrons, and isotopes of an element have the same number of those. They differ in mass, which affects physical properties such as density.

Is this test free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on retakes and nothing is locked. Your score is not saved or shared.
