9th Class Chemistry Chapter 8 Online Test: 25 MCQs with Answers

This 9th class chemistry chapter 8 online test covers Chapter 8 of the Class 9 Chemistry course, Periodic Table and Periodicity. It has 25 multiple-choice questions, shown one at a time, and it marks itself the moment you finish. There is no timer and no sign-up. When you press finish you get your score, and every question is shown again with your answer, the correct option and a short explanation of why that option is right. An Urdu medium version of the same test is further down this page.

What the 25 Questions Test

The questions are spread across the whole of Chapter 8 rather than one section, and most of them ask you to apply something rather than simply recall it. Expect to be doing the following:

  • Spotting the difference between Mendeleev law and the modern periodic law.
  • Reading a position in the table and saying what it implies about the element.
  • Comparing atomic radius for two elements in the same period or group.
  • Comparing ionisation energy and explaining the trend.
  • Ranking elements by electronegativity.
  • Explaining why a group shares chemical properties.

Quick Recall Before You Start

These are the points Periodic Table and Periodicity questions turn on most often. Read them once, then begin:

  • The modern law orders elements by atomic number, Mendeleev used atomic mass.
  • Atomic radius falls across a period and rises down a group.
  • Ionisation energy rises across a period and falls down a group.
  • Elements in a group behave alike because they share a valence electron count.

Traps Hidden in the Wrong Options

In a well-built multiple-choice test the wrong answers are not random; each one is placed there because students genuinely believe it. In this chapter look out for:

  • The modern periodic law stated in terms of atomic mass.
  • Atomic radius and ionisation energy trends swapped.
  • A group confused with a period.

How the Test Works

  • 25 questions, one at a time, with Next and Previous buttons.
  • No timer, so you can work a calculation out on paper first.
  • Automatic marking as soon as you finish.
  • Answer review showing the correct option and an explanation for every question.
  • Retake as often as you like; your score is not stored anywhere.

Start the Chapter 8 Online Test

Chapter 8 is almost entirely trends, so fix the direction of each trend in your head before you begin. Read each question to the end before looking at the options, because one word such as “only”, “always” or “molten” can decide which answer is correct. Aim for 20 out of 25 or better before moving on.

What to Do With Your Score

The score matters less than the review that follows it. Note the topic behind each wrong answer rather than the question number, and if several come from one part of the chapter, revise that part alone. For Chapter 8 the part worth securing first is the periodic trends, since Chapter 9 assumes you already know them. Retake the test a day or two later rather than straight away, then move to the written paper, where you have to produce the answer instead of recognising it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does atomic radius decrease across a period?

Because the nuclear charge increases while the electrons go into the same shell. The stronger pull from the nucleus draws that shell inwards, so the atom gets smaller.

Why do elements in the same group react similarly?

Because they have the same number of valence electrons, and it is the valence electrons that decide how an element bonds.

Is this test free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on retakes and nothing is locked. Your score is not saved or shared.
